Leanne Marshall - Fashion Designer
Leanne Marshall was born and raised in Yuba City, CA. At the early age of 12 after designing costumes for her ballet performances, Leanne knew that she wanted to become a fashion designer. Marshall's dream was propelled into motion after winning a scholarship to attend the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco. After graduating, Leanne quickly realized that she wanted to eventually develop her own line of clothing. She designed fashion part-time while also working as a full-time graphic designer in order to support herself. After moving to Portland, Oregon in 2006, Leanne became a fast rising star amongst the local fashion scene and participated in several local fashion shows creating her line (formerly known as Leanimal). Knowing that it would be a struggle, she eventually took the leap to quit her day job as a graphic designer and focus on fashion design full-time.
In June 2008, Leanne made it as a contestant on the hit Bravo series, Project Runway, where she became a finalist and was able to fulfill a life-long dream of showing her collection at Bryant Park and was crowned the show's winner in October 2008.
Leanne is inspired by nature, architecture and modern innovation, all while creating beautiful wearable pieces. She incorporates eco-friendly textiles in over half of what she creates, with future plans to increase sustainability all while creating a prominent name in the fashion industry.
